Mens Club Champion 2009 - Jamie Wilson
Jamie led in both rounds of the Thomas Cook Club Championship competition scoring gross scores of 74. He has a lead of 1 stroke in the first round over Ian Symonds but increased this by a further 4 in the second round to finish with a gross total of 148. Ian had a total of 153 gross, followed by Any Latter & Dan Symonds with 156 and Mike Prince with 157 gross.

Seniors Open 2009
The early hours of Wednesday morning showed ominous black clouds that promised torrential rain and maybe thunderstorms. However, the very strong winds of the day drove the clouds away and after a few short showers the day was fine, the winds however, causing some problems to the golfers during the day. An early leader in the clubhouse was Malcolm Jeffery of Thorpe Wood who came in with 39 points but he was soon overtaken by Tony Jepson, last year’s seniors captain. Tony remained in the lead for sometime but then Arthur Stevens, the Seniors Champion of 2007, came in with an excellent 41 pts and it seemed that once again he would repeat his success. However, Ken Green of Elton Furze, who had been persuaded by the organiser Colin Bagley to enter the competition, also came in with 41 pts, and to became the Seniors Champion 2009 on countback, having 23 pts on the back nine as opposed to 20 pts on the back nine scored by Arthur Stevens. Another player who had a successful day was Gordon Shields of Stoke Albany who won nearest the pin prizes on the 1 st green and 4 th nett in the 1 st Division (for those players of handicaps 0-13). Captains Drive-in January 2009
Sixty golfers turned up in freezing conditions on Saturday 10th January to welcome the new Captains at Thorpe Wood Golf Club at the annual Captains’ Drive-In. All three Captains were on hand to welcome golfers for the nine hole, three ball, stableford competition. Club Captain, Danny Cameron, Lady Captain, Nicky Plumtree and Senior Captain Dave Asher formed the leading team and managed a respectable 49 points which was only good enough for seventh place. The winning score was 60 points, posted by Lesley Cylkowski, Mike Wilson and Joe ‘Zorba the Greek’ Polychronidis. “We were delighted so many members were able to play on such a cold day,” said Danny Cameron.
