MIXED MATCHES AND COMPETITIONS
Mixed matches and competitions are open to all members with a current handicap (but see also entry qualifications).
MIXED MATCHES
Mixed matches are mainly held at the weekends and this year we have five away matches and four home matches. The format is often greensomes but can occasionally be four ball better ball - see individual competitions for details.
Mixed matches have either a meal afterwards or breakfast before, the cost of the match includes the price of the meal and all participants are requested to stay for the meal. It is usual to change after the meal, many away clubs require jacket and tie for the men - again see match details. Regular match attendees are requested to purchase team strip (royal blue polo top and navy trousers, skirt or knee-length shorts) available from the Pro Shop.
ENTRY PROCEDURE
Entry forms for both matches and competitions will be put on the Mixed board in the clubhouse foyer a month before each competition. Final selection for matches and start sheets for mixed competitions will be posted on the Mixed board and on the website at least a week in advance. New members are encouraged to put their names forward and partners can be found for single players wishing to join in.
The ladies committee is responsible for organisation of the mixed matches and competitions and specific contact names are shown on individual match or competition details. Any general enquiries can be made to the Lady Captain.
MIXED COMPETITION ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
The local rules regarding qualification for entry to mixed competitions are:
All competitors must have submitted at least one qualifying card at Thorpe Wood since, and not including, the previous year's competition. For the ladies the previous lady captain's day competition does not count as a single qualifying card.
A qualifying competition is one in which scores are submitted to keep handicaps up to date - this would include most individual strokeplay competitions such as monthly medals and stablefords - if in any doubt of your status consult your handicap secretary.
Members whose handicaps are held at other clubs should be able to produce a current handicap certificate to the competition starter.
