Membership of Thorpe Wood has the following benefits:
Handicaps
The club is affiliated to the English Golf Union and as such can issue handicaps. Once a handicap has been obtained it is easier to arrange games at other clubs where handicap certificates are required.
Matches
We play friendly matches against other clubs, a great way to play other courses at very little cost.
Competitions
We hold medal and stableford competitions each month, plus several major competitions during the year some of which are qualifiers for National competitions.
Practice Ground
No charge is made for the use of the practice ground, which is situated alongside the fifth hole by Orton Staunch. The two putting greens near the clubhouse are also always available.
Pre-booking
Bookings for general play can be made eight days in advance rather than the usual seven days, (your membership number is required if booking by telephone).
Special Weekend Rate
During the summer period, April - October, a special members rate will be available on Saturdays and Sundays after 2.30pm (subject to tee availability). Most weeks a full 18 holes will be easily possible.
Junior Members
We welcome junior members and would like to encourage more children and young people to play golf. Membership of Thorpe Wood gives access to information about training and junior competitions. Recently the NLCGA have held girls training sessions at Swingers in Orton. There is now just one price for juniors, including Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
