Most golf clubs hold open events as they are a showcase for their club. There are competition of all sorts available:
- Various formats - medal, stableford, AMAM, texas scramble, greensome, foursome
- Various entrants - ladies, individual, mixed, pairs
- For players of varying handicaps
- Playing as individuals, pairs, or teams of 3 or 4
The benefit to players is:
- The excitement of playing in competitions.
- Great experience of different types of courses and competition.
- The entry fee is usually much less than the general green fee for a course.
- You quite often get fed or at least given refreshments.
- A chance to represent Thorpe Wood
- You may actually win a prize - or at least something in the raffle
So why wouldn't you want to have a go???????
