Message from The Lady Captain

As many of you know I am very keen on playing in Open Competitions. Most golf clubs hold open events as they are a showcase for their club. I've managed to play over 50 courses in the last 18 months relatively cheaply due to participating in the many local open competitions.

There are competition of all sorts available:

  • Various formats - medal, stableford, AMAM, texas scramble, greensome, foursome
  • Various entrants - ladies, individual, mixed, pairs
  • For players of varying handicaps
  • Playing as individuals, pairs,  or teams of 3 or 4

The benefit to players is:

  1. The excitement of playing in competitions.
  2. Great experience of different types of courses and competition.
  3. The entry fee is usually much less than the general green fee for a course.
  4. You quite often get fed or at least given refreshments.
  5. A chance to represent Thorpe Wood
  6. You may actually win a prize - or at least something in the raffle

So why wouldn't you want to have a go???????

Anyway I've assembled a list of various events for LADIES specifically although if you are interested in MIXED events I have been known to organise these as well (please ask for details).

A number of reasonably priced events are listed below and it would be great if we could organise Thorpe Wood ladies to go to some, or all of them. If you are interested please let me know asap as the more popular events can get booked out quite quickly and these have just been made available.

I am happy to organise the entries for any of the competitions mentioned. If you want to assemble your own teams please feel free - I would also like to hold a reserve list in case of last minute changes.

Please contact me if you have any questions or want to put your name down.

Happy golfing

Karen
