HISTORY OF THORPE WOOD LADIES SECTION
Introduction
In 2005 a suggestion was put to the committee that perhaps a history of the ladies section be put together. We are now at the time when we are losing some of our earlier members and it would be good to have some record of the formation of the section etc.
Letters were sent to past captains asking for any photographs, press cuttings etc that they may have so that a Memories of the Ladies Section could be compiled. We now have details of most years and these have been assembled in some order and it is hoped will be of interest to members, past, present and future. Inevitably there may be some discrepancies and it would be appreciated if any faults could be passed to the secretary of the ladies section, Do Bagley, c/o Thorpe Wood Golf Club, so these may be corrected.
If any ladies have any further information that can be considered forinclusion this would also be appreciated. Group pictures with names and year would be helpful. Any comments, anecdotes, etc please send to Do Bagley.
It is planned that these records be put on the website, a copy printed out for those who do not have access to the internet, and possibly DVDs made available. Individual files may be downloaded by clicking on the relevant captain:
