LADIES CLUB COMPETITIONS
There are many competitions during the year including regular medals, stablefords and 9 hole competitions. These are all detailed on the fixture list. This page gives more detail and rules on the various local ladies only competitions run on specific dates as well as the knockout competitions and eclectics. Information on the club mixed matches and competitions can be found here.
All competitions require a current handicap and rules on maintaining handicaps have changed as from Jan 1st 2010. Our handicap secretary Gill Oughton can help with queries on gaining and maintaining your handicap.
In common with most other clubs we at Thorpe Wood also have local rules for competition qualification. These have been recently revised and can be can be seen seen at the end of this page.
How to enter a ladies competition at Thorpe Wood
Entry sheets for competitions are posted on the notice-board in the Ladies Changing room at least two weeks before the competition is due to be played.
Allow ten minutes at least before your tee time. When you arrive sign the relevant competition book(s) in the Ladies changing room, pay the Green Fee in the shop, and report to the starter who is usually a member of the Committee. The competition entry fee is usually £1, this should be put in an envelope (usually with the entry for your playing partners) and placed in the box under the window in the Pro Shop.
You will exchange cards for marking purposes with another member of your match. She will mark your score in the player 'A' column (see scorecard) and her own score in the leftmost column of the card. After the round you sign her card and agree the score with her. Check your score, sign your card and put it in the box provided in the Ladies changing room. (The commonest cause for disqualification is players forgetting to sign either the competition entry book or their cards!)
