The Glenmuir Club Captains National Finals were held at on the Brabazon course at The Belfry on Sunday 1st April. Andy Latter managed to get through to the finals after successfully getting through 8 qualifying rounds last year. It was a stableford competition and he was up against 7 other Club Captains.
In testing conditions Andy played really well on the front nine and went to the turn with 20 points leading the field by six points. However unfortunately on playing his tee shot at the 13th he tore a muscle in his right calf which meant that he was very restricted on his swing. He was in a lot of pain but played through this to successfully complete his round which took a lot of courage. Unfortunately he was only able to pick up a few more points and finished his round with a stableford score of 29. This was good enough to finish in runners up spot losing on countback to the eventual winner who had an impressive birdie at the last to secure victory.

Suzanne Dickens, a Ladies European Tour player and the lady professional at Thorpe Wood Golf Club, in her first tournament of the year and in preparation for the 2007 Ladies European tour, played in the Vivien Saunders WPGA Foursomes at Sunnydale Ladies Golf Course on Wed 14 Mar. Her playing partner was Joanne Oliver from Knebworth and they were delighted to shoot 62 to finish as winners of the event.

Thorpe Wood are County Scratch Team Champions 2006
The inter club scratch team event was held at Newmarket Golf Club on Sunday 1st October. This is a three man scratch team event and Jason Latter, Danny Perez and Jamie Hibbert made up our team. There were about 14 teams and there were some very good low handicap players there representing clubs from across the county. Jason shot 2 over, Danny shot 1 over and Jamie shot 4 over for a combined 7 over par score of 223. This was good enough to win the event by 1 shot from Gog Magog. The team was presented with a silver trophy. This was an extremely good result not only for the team but also for the club - we are now the Club Scratch Team champions for Cambridgeshire and go on to represent the county at next years UK finals which is a 36 hole event to be held on Sept 14th +15th 2007 at Hesketh Golf Club Merseyside.
